Welcome to International Sports
Federations
As a firm believer in the values of sporting activity,
Switzerland offers conditions that are favourable to the development of
sport. A strong political commitment which coincides with its tradition
of education and health, together with recognized levels of social stability
and law and order, and a high standard of infrastructure all help to enhance
the quality of such an environment.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) chose Lausanne as its headquarters
in 1915. Numerous sports federations and international sports organisations
have since followed the IOC to the shores of Lake Geneva.
This kind of international presence is a great honour for the Olympic Capital
and the Canton of Vaud. It also brings with it a responsibility to offer
the most promising conditions for the development of international sports
activities.
For this reason, the Canton of Vaud and the City of Lausanne, in close collaboration
with the Swiss Government, have created general conditions in line with
a well-defined and concerted welcome policy.
The web site and the CD-ROM present these conditions, together with various
pieces of practical information that are useful for when setting up an international
sports organisation in the Canton of Vaud.
