Road links

All the major Swiss cities can easily be reached from the Canton of Vaud (between 30 min. to 3 hrs).

Lausanne is situated at a motorway junction allowing you to easily reach the countries of Western Europe.

The local transport network is completed by a boat service. The Compagnie Générale de Navigation routes offer a public and tourist service. Lake Geneva separates France from Switzerland and numerous people who cross the border every day to work use the boats every morning and evening. The shuttle service is therefore extremely developed. You can also make many different excursions on the lake and for this the paddle steamers which belong to the fleet are extremely popular.

Located close to the Alps and the Swiss plateau region, the Canton of Vaud’s position makes it an ideal starting point for excursions to the high mountain and green pasture regions. Zermatt takes three hours by car, while Chamonix is less than two hours away.
